The Postgraduate School of Diponegoro University Inventing The Picohydro Prototype Free and Clean Energy

November 17, 2025

Undip, Semarang (29/10/2025) — To embody sustainable energy, the Postgraduate School of Diponegoro University conducted the trials of the Picohydro Prototype Machine, which is able to convert water to electricity. This event is one of SPs Undip initiatives to implement the values of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The trials were conducted at Mlandi Village, Wonosobo, Central Java, Indonesia on 29 to 30 October, 2025.

This is one of the Postgraduate School of Diponegoro University’s initiatives to develop a free and clean technology, in which this machine is able to utilize a water stream and convert it into electricity power. Not only does it offer simplicity, but this prototype machine can also have positive impacts such as low-cost maintenance, high-clean energy, and it’s capable of pushing society to manage sustainable energy for their daily life.

The Trials of Picohydro will be the first step to build a sustainable tourist village. In other words, there will be an open door for Mlandi Village to invent another innovative opportunity in terms of utilizing hydrogen as an alternative energy for household affairs.

The Dean of SPs Undip is hoping that after this prototype is successfully done, there will be a positive impact for the whole rural areas in Indonesia where those areas have incapabilities to reach electricity power. (Humas SPs – DAP)
