Undip Semarang (29/12/2025) — Recently, the Postgraduate School of Diponegoro University held a dissertation exam for the doctoral study program of environmental sciences. This time, Adib Khoirul Anas presented his work titled “The Waste Management Strategies in Coastal Areas Affected by Tidal Flooding. The exam took place at the Postgraduate School of Diponegoro University TTB-B Building on the 2nd floor.

In his research, Adib Khoirul Anas discusses the issues of waste management in the coastal areas affected by tidal flooding, particularly in Sayung District, Demak Regency. Tidal flooding disasters not only cause physical damage but also worsen waste accumulation, which affects community health, environmental quality, and the sustainability of the socio-economy.

This research emphasized the importance of waste management strategies in which to be more adaptable with the circumstances, to be integrated with the local governmental policies, and to involve more people from the area itself. Eventually, this research was intended to improve the effectiveness of waste management in coastal areas that are prone to climate change and sea level rise. 

This research has strong relevance towards environmental issues of coastal areas and disasters. It obviously will be a magnificent reference for the issuance of policy and the sustainable waste management in the coastal areas.

This research will definitely not merely contribute to science development but also be implemented by the local government and the stakeholders regarding the sustainable development for coastal areas. (Humas SPs_PAP)
