History

The Postgraduate School of Diponegoro University was established with the issuance of the Minister of Education and Culture Decree No. 67486/A2.1.2/C/1994 dated November 7, 1994, to address various market challenges and needs. The Postgraduate School, as one of the educational institutions under Diponegoro University, was initially named the Graduate Program, which had 39 master’s study programs and 16 doctoral study programs spread across 11 faculties and 1 school. In its journey, the Diponegoro University Postgraduate Program has undergone very fundamental changes, namely with the issuance of Diponegoro University Rector’s Decree No. 609/SK/2011 dated November 11, 2011, concerning the Management of Academic and Administrative Affairs of Monodisciplinary Postgraduate Study Programs. This decree states that the academic management and part of the administration of monodisciplinary study programs, which were previously under the Postgraduate Program, are now under the management of the faculties. Since January 1, 2013, the Graduate Program has managed 5 multidisciplinary study programs, and in 2015, the Graduate Program of Diponegoro University was transformed into the Graduate School, which focuses on multidisciplinary study programs. The Graduate School of Diponegoro University is required to be able to compete nationally and globally, thus playing an important role in determining the direction of development and increasing national competitiveness. The Graduate School (SPs) of Diponegoro University, as an academic institution managing multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary programs, is directed to become a driver of transformative research, a center for lifelong learning, and a provider of science-based solutions to strategic issues such as the environment, energy, public policy, and sustainability. The development of SPs aims not just to improve academic quality but also to create institutions that are relevant, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of the community and global changes, aligning with Diponegoro University’s vision of being an excellent research university with the motto “A Dignified and Beneficial Campus,” which shows Undip’s commitment to being a higher education institution that excels academically while also making a real difference in society, the nation, and the world. The Postgraduate School of Diponegoro University currently manages multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary programs consisting of 3 Master’s (S2) and 3 Doctoral (S3) programs which include Master of Environment Sciences, Master of Information Systems, Master of Energy, Doctor of Environment Sciences, Doctor of Information Systems, and Doctor of Energy.
